A (hopefully temporary) crisis of faith

9 Oct

Dear God,

I believe in you.

But why are so many of your people such asshats?

There are the ones who kill other people for not agreeing with them, or ‘insulting’ their Gods, religions, prophets, dress code…

Then there are the ones who act holier than thou or think that it’s perfectly fine to whine all the time about how religion is being murdered! How the big, bad government or those damn liberals are keeping God out of schools!

Newsflash: God is everywhere. You can’t put up barbed wire fences to keep God out, you stupid, stupid people.

I can’t believe I’m still this angry about a stupid email forward.

I’m not just angry about that, I’m angry about how people are still stupid when it comes to their God/s.

Look, God was just fine without you.

Why must you be stupid just because you’re a certain faith?

And I’m tired of people asking about the state of my faith. I believe in God. The end.

I just don’t like most of the other people who say they do right now.

‘But why are so many of your people such asshats?’
    Because they are people.
Did Jesus not weep because he saw the people were like sheep without a shepherd? The thing I can tell you about sheep (either with or without a shepherd) is they aren’t the brightest animals on the planet. (Hurray, they’re taking us to the S-Laughter house! I like laughing. I wonder what an S-Laugh is like?)
When you get a congregation together they are made up of a good cross section of the community. They come with all the good and bad traits of the community as a whole.
Those who believe; those who don’t really believe but pretend; those who think that because they believe everyone else HAS to, and they also HAVE to believe the same way they do; Those who believe but are appathetic; those who are there to fit into their family or social group; those who have doubts but are lost; those who are lost but have no doubts; those who doubt they are lost, but have no idea where they are … and so on and so forth.
Be as innocent as a dove but as wiley as a wolf even when dealing with those who claim to be angels of light.
